This is a season in the Church for new things—a New Springtime—an emerging of a glorious Bride that will so shine in the world that all people will run to the Light that shines from us who are so prepared as the wise Virgins were.
I had a picture of a great fishing net with people of many of different denominations holding the net--but all of us united in our passionate love for Jesus. Somehow we were standing on the water all gripping the net. Many of us didn’t know the person next to us, but we were united in this worldwide task. Then Jesus, also holding the net looked at us all. He instructed us without words, as we knew what He was saying in our hearts. We all knew:
“When I give you the nod, PULL on the net. Watch me intently. Wait for my nod.”
There was an anticipation that this would be an incredible catch and that we were not to be distracted. We had no idea how long we would have to wait there, gripping the net firmly, but we all knew one thing: Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.
Each person knew within that if they would let up their grip, allow themselves to be distracted by looking at the others holding the net, or daydreaming about even theological things, or focusing on our own strength for such a mighty task, they would becoming the weak link and the pulling of the net would not accomplish the task of a clean, full catch and fish would escape because of my weak grip.
Focus on Jesus, simply that. Looking into His eyes and waiting, watching, anticipating for something great to happen and knowing I had a part in it, along with each person holding that net.
I believe God is positioning us Christians—those who are attentive and listening for His every move and who are rending our hearts to be sensitive to His. We are being positioned around heaven’s net. We are being trained in our personal lives to hear his voice well, notice His gestures so that when the moment comes and the King of Kings nods and pulls on the net, we will immediately respond with all of our being to pull with Him and watch for a great harvest of fish into the Kingdom.
It is like the story of the virgins who had their oil ready for when the Bridegroom would arrive. Will you be among those of us who have our eyes fixed on Jesus? I am giving everything I have to be ready and to be among those holding that net, having my oil ready, asking God daily for the grace to stay faithful. Will you join us? And if you are already holding on, good on you! Decide to keep your grip strong and Holy Spirit may you strengthen our grip even more resolutely!
